Review: Tritonal – Piercing the Quiet (Extended Mixes)
American trance duo Tritonal have managed to continue their success by breeding sex-crazed synthesizers, uplifting melodies and ethereal vocalists. They’re in the DJ Mag Top 100, they have released over one hundred originals and remixes and after only three years of production they’re certainly rising to the cream of the crop. Chad Cisernos and Dave Reed are worth the salt and have developed the preternatural ability to make crowds explode. Their debut artist album, Piercing the Quiet, released last year. If you don’t have it yet, pick it up – it’ll be egg on your face if you don’t. Then when you have that go ahead and grab yourself the Extended Mixes release of their debut album to whet your appetite. The extended mix is better than a Per Se meal. We’ll prove it to you. Take a look at the menu card.
Appetizer
“Poem of Angels” rubs elbows with Alexandre Desplat at the dinner table. It’s a film score-esque intro that sends you on your way into a smattering of stormers and vocal tracks.
Entrée
It’s been almost a year DJ’s have been waiting for the decadent peak-time yum yums “Ziziki,” “Retake,” “Murakami” and “Shapes Revolve.” But if you haven’t heard the album already, Piercing the Quiet was over two years of studio work that showcases some of Tritonal’s best work to date.
Dessert
On the album the immensely lovely Cristina Soto puts the “Tri” in Tritonal with her oozing down-tempo bliss endured “Lifted,” “Still With Me” and a 2011 take of their smash hit “Piercing Quiet.” The collaborations continue with Winter Kill’s singer Meredith Call on “Broken Down,” veteran trance songstress Fisher on “Slave”; and put-your-repeat-button-on Bethany, Jeza and Jenry R.
They’ve toured around the globe playing major clubs and festivals. They also have a slew of their own club mixes to Piercing the Quiet. So say thank you. They deserve that at least. Oh, by the way, after you’ve had every last morsel, be ready to eat the beats all over again when Tritonal drops their much-anticipated remix album on your summer’s dinner plate. Yeah, they don’t stop.
