Track Review: Above & Beyond – On My Way to Heaven (Club Mix) + Seven Lions Remix

If you are looking for one of the best trance tracks of 2012, look no further. I am rarely disappointed by what Above & Beyond can do with music. After much anticipation, the trio is finally releasing the club mix of their hugely popular track, “On My Way to Heaven.” This song packs power. Even before the vocals kick on the track, you can tell that this song is going to deliver. A heavy pulsing bass line pulls you in as Richard Bedford’s vocals soar above it all. The great thing about Above & Beyond tracks is how they always seem to be building towards one moment. In “On My Way to Heaven” that moment is when the beat drops out, the haunting lyrics break your heart right before the heavy-hitting track kicks in once again.

Another excellent take of the song comes from the up-and-coming dubstep producer Seven Lions. Even if you are not the biggest dubstep fan, I cannot urge you enough to give this song a listen. Seven Lions creates some of the most epic buildups and melodic breakdowns that I have ever heard in dubstep. In fact, he manages to create a completely different journey than Above & Beyond with his remixing.

Having heard this song in TATW and through numerous YouTube videos of Group Therapy tour dates, I simply cannot wait to hear this song live at Group Therapy NY (Electric Zoo, Day 1). And for those of you who question whether or not trance fans like bass, I challenge you to listen! Pick either of the tracks up on Beatport now!
