Stars Above

Stars Above

Stars Above uses intricate drums to carry energy through his remixes. Stars Above completely transforms Michael Calfan’s “Resurrection” into a blissful yet powerful hitting track. I’ve said it once and I will say it again; I love remixers who keep the essential elements of an original track but add in new elements to completely change the vibe of the song. Stars Above reworks Hardwell’s massive hit, “Spaceman” similarly, creating a synthy, pulsing, progressive tune. The preview of his original work, “Come Alive” is a very solid start to what could be a very successful production. Give Stars Above a follow on SoundCloud and keep and ear out for some of his future tunes.

Archie

Archie

Russia seems to be on fire with progressive artists lately. Archie, formerly Archie V, has been producing some of the most intricate and progressive tunes of 2012 and he is definitely a worthwhile addition to your music library. His most recent collaboration with Polina, “Here and Now” is a song perfect for your summer playlist. Many have hailed Archie the next Avicii due to his infectious melodies and intricate sound production. “20% Cooler” is one of Archie’s darkest productions to date and fuses electro and progressive house effortlessly. “One More Cupcake” is a track that outdoes “20% Cooler” and intricately combines quick progressive licks with a heavy dubstep drop. Although almost all of his productions are very progressive, this track challenges even some of the best dubstep producers out there.Archie has been pumping out song after song for 2012 and I could try to cover his entire discography but I would not do it justice. Give his page an extensive listen. Luckily,  a lot of them are available for free download, so if you want to refresh your ears and your library, definitely check out your page.

Wes de Graaf

Wes de Graaf

As someone who generally doe not care for moombahton and moombahcore, I am remarkably impressed by the work of Wes de Graaf. Interestingly enough, I originally was introduced to Wes De Graaf last summer, through his remix of “Sun & Moon.” Also not on his page, his remix of Afrojack’s “Louder than Words,” a hard-hitting, big room remix of the hit song. He has remixed the likes of Angello & Laidback Luke, with his bootleg of “Be,” infused with powerful drums that re-ignite the classic track. I am a sucker when it comes to good drums and I find that to be the strongest aspects of a lot of Wes de Graaf’s productions.  ”Assid” is Wes de Graaf’s newest preview: a dirty, dirty, dirty track and I think it will probably be his best production to date. Recently, he has been almost exclusively producing moombah tunes, but I give him a lot of credit for getting my into the sub-genre. Another favorite track of mine is his original production, “Iced Out Bitxhhh,” filled with wailing synths and a beat that is bound to make you want to dance. Check him out and give him a follow on SoundCloud today!
