Review: Sander Kleinenberg makes an EPIC Return to Cielo NYC – 4/26/12

Once again, Sander Kleinenberg certainly showed the party goers of Cielo NYC that “THIS IS” NEW YORK! He delivered an electric performance complete with dirty disco and progressive house beats. Sander always creates unique, evolving sets with interchanging and elevating mediums, shifting from disco-house to progressive, and he even threw in a killer mix of Angie Stone’s “I Wish I Didn’t Miss you” which certainly grabbed my attention. His sound is easily undefined, using different dimensions of different genres, as the crowd unsurprisingly danced through the wee hours of Friday morning.

What really captivated the crowd was Sander dropping a killer unreleased Tocadisco track “Tanzen”, which adequately  means ‘Dance’ in German; That is just the effect it had on Cielo’s dancefloor. From 1 a.m. to almost past 4 he transitioned from dirty disco melodies to pulsating progressive house tracks. Yes, DISCOOO – like “The Journey” featuring Ursula Rucker, and we loved it! There were several ‘ID’ tracks that I will be on the hunt for, but Sander’s “R.Y.A.N.L.” (the Original and Pleasurekraft mix are both phenomenal) and “Chemically (5K Mix)” are always a treat. There were good vibes and dancing bodies throughout the night, but I expected nothing less from a Dance.Here.Now Thursday party. Disco beats altering into Treitl Hammond’s “Higher” definitely stimulated Cielo from wall to wall, even brought excitement to those dancing in the outdoor area. Sander Kleinenberg consistently shows off his aesthetic artistry for music production always creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere regardless of location or venue. It is no secret that Cielo has one of the most advanced sound systems in New York, so to hear an enterprising talent like Sander Kleinenberg on those Funktion One speakers is such a pleasure.

Joe Indelicato opened up the night and he definitely got the crowd going with great progressive and deep house sounds. He was a great setting stone for Sander Kleinenberg’s powerful closing. ‘This Is’ always an incredible night when Sander Kleinenberg comes to town and he certainly gave his loyal fans a boundless evening of great music, good vibes and beautiful people. I was lucky enough to indulge in Sander Kleinenberg’s Miami Music Week closing party for the past 3 years, I undoubtedly cherished his performance at Water Taxi Beach in July of 2009, as well as his countless appearances at Cielo over the years. I have now added last night’s event to my ‘Most Memorable’ list and I surely look forward to the next time I can rock out the unparallel melodies of Sander Kleinenberg.

Thank you to Sander Kleinenberg and Dance.Here.Now for another incredible night!
