R3hab & Swanky Tunes Takeover at Pacha NYC 8/3/12

This past week, Pacha NYC made party goers go to R3hab not once, but twice! On Tuesday night, Pacha NYC hosted a PachaU18 (yes, that’s correct, an under 18 event) with the master of chainsaw madness, R3hab. The kids of New York weren’t the only ones treated to a dose of dutch house though. The prestigious 46th street spot welcomed back Fadil El Ghoul, better known as r3hab on Friday August 3rd, with special guests Swanky Tunes.

Although I didn’t make it in time for the opening set from Dove, I heard from a few fellow EDM- enthusiasts that he killed it. I did however, get passed the velvet ropes just in time for the main event. Fully equipped with a full box of I Need R3hab gear and goodies for the crowd, R3hab was given a two hour time slot from 1am to 3am. Besides the famed glasses, I Need Opening with a pull of the infamous Pacha horn, and the voice of Chuckie, the night began with ‘Who is Ready to Jump?!’. Having seen R3hab quite a few times over the past year, it was a lively energy-packed experience as usual. Dropping bombs for a wall-to-wall crazy crowd including the recent Afrojack chart topper, Rock the House. The song, still so new, really does live up to it’s name, and left every party-goer shaking and jumping along to the heavy beat. Another clear crowd pleasing hit, Prutataaa, was a ‘wow’ moment in the club, as I’m pretty sure the walls shook between the bass and everyone dancing. We all felt on ‘Top of the World’ when R3hab dropped the Ansol & Dyro hit, while seemingly endless confetti was released throughout the crowd. It was an intense part of the night, that definitely created plenty of photo ops for both the professional and iPhone photographers in the club.

By the early morning hours of 3am, we were all ready to get swanky. When New Yorkers found out that Swanky Tunes were added to the bill along with R3hab, the EDM twitter-verse went crazy. As the time approached for the Russian DJ duo to take the booth of Pacha NYC, the energy level was already Jacked, and Swanky Tunes brought the party to the next level. Playing their hit tracks, including their latest collaboration with Hard Rock Sofa on Axtone, Here We Go, was a personal favorite track, as I’m sure many can agree. The track blared hard through what can arguably be the best speaker system in New York City along with their upcoming single, Blood Rush, which at the time of their set was unannounced. We learned earlier this week that the track would be released on September 3rd. However, still new to our ears, Swanky Tunes shouted to the crowd about a brand new song being dropped. The crowd’s response was undeniable, what will soon be a hit through DJ sets across the world. The Swanky Tunes boys definitely know how to throw a party, keeping us all dancing until almost 5am with hit after jaw-dropping hit. By the looks of the club at that hour of the morning, it’s safe to say they left New York City wanting more.
