Review: Hardwell Free Bootleg Pack Trilogy
When Hardwell entered the game internationally back in 2009, he claimed a spot as a potential bootlegging master with his premiere bootleg, “Show Me Love vs. Be.” Three years later, he now holds the title of one of the best bootleggers, ever. Today, as a gift for reaching 300,000 Facebook fans, Hardwell has given us the bonus bootleg pack to his trilogy. The Bootleg Pack ‘Trilogy’ consists of 62 bootlegs, edits and mashups, all for free.
As it’s a few days shy of Electric Zoo NYC, this is a huge deal. It is a great way to remind us why we should see Hardwell on Friday, Augut 31st and why he has been given a spot on the Main Stage. Not many DJs are willing to release so many tunes, not only consecutively, but withno cost to you. He is the definition of a DJ who is mainly about the music. It’s great to know that there’s still people out there who care about giving us what we want, the music that they are great at making, without hurting our pockets. The Bootleg Pack ‘Trilogy’ Bonus pack includes 12 crazy tracks that will keep you moving and wanting more.

Taking a look at the tracks that have been premiered this year, you can safely say that Hardwell is on a great level with having an ear for mashups. To me, a great mashup is when you hear one song and immediately play the mashed-up song with it in your head, even when you’re listening to the original version.
One of my personal favorites from this Bonus Bootleg Pack is “Rage N Stuff” – Deadmau5 vs. Ralvero. The combination of the two completely different songs mixes together in an absolutey amazing way. When you listen to Deadmau5′s “Ghosts N Stuff,” you think of a very haunted melody that brings you up and down at a steady pace. However, when you listen to Ralvero’s “Rage,” you are literally ready to rage and bug out at every beat drop. Combining these two songs is genius. As you listen to the calm, yet eerie beats, you would never expect to “rage” at the same time.
Continuing with the mashups that were premiered this year is “One More DrumFail” - Jordy Dazz & Mighty Fools vs. Daft Punk. It’s hard to bring back a classic and mash it up with a new song, but as you can tell Hardwell is one of the few to know how to make it right. Daft Punk’s “One More Time” is a vocal dance song that got the attention from many types of fans, gaining a lot of radio play and the attention of a generation. To bring the track back to the EDM scene properly, Hardwell mashed it up with “Drum Fail,” Jorday Dazz & Might Fools’ new collabo that he debuted during his set at EDC Las Vegas. Get ready to have this track make you ‘celebrate and dance so free.’

The final track in the bootleg pack is Hardwell’s mashup of Underworld vs. Nari & Milani, ”Atom Slippy.” If you have been to any EDM club or show during the past few months, no matter the genre, you’ve most likely have heard Nari & Milani’s “Atom” drop. It has become such a club banger this year and has been supported by many DJs internationally. As great of a song that it is, you sometimes get sick of hearing it so frequently throughout sets. Hardwell has taken it to another level by creating a mashup so we can still have the joy of Atom without the thought of ‘hearing the same song’ over and over again. Not only is a great mashup, but to take a song from the 90′s and create a new vibe to it is just amazing. Who would have thought Underworld’s “Born Slippy” would have been a good match up with “Atom?” I surely didn’t know what to expect when I read the title before I heard it.
If you’re going to Electric Zoo NYC this year, make sure to stop by and take a listen to Hardwell’s set on the Main Stage on Friday, August 31, 2012 to hear some of these mashups and bootlegs live, you surely won’t be disappointed.
