Paul Oakenfold is one of the true legends of dance music and remains one of the leading forces in the global music scene today. He pioneered the global dance movement back in the late 80’s, sweeping the scene of Ibiza, Spain and bringing his findings over to the UK. Oakenfold discovered Balearic sounds, put his own touch on it, and delivered his new found trance music through residency at major world clubs Cream in Liverpool and Ibiza, Pacha Ibiza and Barcelona, and not to mention he was first ever resident at Ministry of Sound London. Paul Oakenfold was quickly embodied by major artists Madonna and U2, both which set him as opening acts for major world tours (three world-tours with each artist) in the 90’s, rather than having the usual opening band. He was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for his the compilation ‘Creamfields’, in 2007 for ‘A Lively Mind’, and in 2009 for his production work with Madonna. Paul Oakenfold was THE name in dance music in the 90’s having held the achievement of highest selling DJ compilations ever released in US history, multiple albums racketing over half a million sales.
