Preview: Eric Prydz brings ‘EPIC’ to Beekman Beach + ID Festival NYC – July 28th, 2012

Eric Prydz at Beekman Beach Club - 7/28/12

New York City, hold onto your EDM belts! The day has almost come for the Swedish sensation that is Eric Prydz to return to NYC. Nobody thought it to be true despite a rumored fear of flying, but Eric Prydz, or Pryda to some, will be gracing us with his electronic presence, not once, but twice in the same day. Eric Prydz will be headlining Identity Festival at the Jones Beach Theater during the day on Saturday, July 28th, 2012, and later that evening Prydz will reign in downtown Manhattan, creating a ‘sand-storm’ at Beekman Beach Club.

2011 was certainly a turnaround year for Eric Prydz having finally brought his EPIC [Eric Prydz in Concert]“ show on the road. After a long league of travel absence, Eric Prydz brought the EPIC Show to the O2 Brixton Academy Arena in London on April 2nd, 2011, where he tore the roof off that London social with many original Pryda productions such as Glimma”, “Illusions”, and Cirez D remixes for “Knock Out” and “On/Off”, as well as fast track previews to his newest masterpieces, Dukes Of Sluca vs Apollo – “Mighty Love (Eric Prydz Re-Edit)” and Genesis (Eric Prydz Remix). The second ‘EPIC’ show was at last year’s Global Gathering Festival in the UK on July 29th, and the third installment of EPIC was held at the Alexandra Palace on November 26th. It was a rarity to see Prydz touring so furiously, and many thought we’d never see him outside of Europe or London for a long while due to a minor fear of flying, but that is not stopping him now as he invades the American aisles with a 2012 US/Canada tour.

I personally have been an Eric Prydz fan for years, easily hooked to his masterfully crafted classic EDM productions which include “Call on Me”, “Woz Not Woz”, “Pjanoo“, and of course, universal fan favorite – Prydz vs. Pink Floyd Proper Education (which I hope we’re reintroduced to at Beekman Beach Club, because it’s been soo long!) 2011 was certainly a renaissance period for Prydz, aside from debuting his traveling EPIC Tour, the mastermind introduced listeners to his newest alias ‘Pryda’, a harder, darker electro-tech musical artistry that pulsates straight through your veins. Newest Pryda releases that you must research if you have not done so yet are “SXW4″, which in my first listening, was left on repeat for a month, “Gift”, “Shadows”, the popular “Allein” and just about everything else on the new album!

Eric Prydz tests different musical elements, levels, and boundaries with different aliases, but fans love him all the same whether we’re rocking out to an Eric Prydz track, Cirez D, or Pryda, everything the man touches is anomalously golden. His newest album “Pryda”, released as a three disc compilation contains endless hours of fierce electronic music fitting to blow the speakers out of any venue, festival, corridor.. you get the picture. Prydz recently started a monthly radio show ‘Eric Prydz Presents EPIC Radio’ which started on Friday, May 18, 2012 and is available for free download on iTunes. He loves to create newly diverse melodies and constantly gives back to his fans, but from what we have seen in the last year, and what the future holds are said the be the greatest Pryda treats for listeners yet.

Tickets are still available for Identity Festival at the Jones Beach Theater as well as Beekman Beach Club for Saturday, July 28th, 2012. I suggest you act fast because both shows will most definitely sell out soon! See you on the ‘Genesis’ dance floor with Eric Prydz and friends.

Most of the tracks that Eric plays and releases are under the Pryda moniker and it is certainly not new…there’s a reason why Discs 2 and 3 of his album are “Retrospective Mix[es]” The “darker, electro-tech” tracks are released under the Cirez-D name while Eric Prydz tracks are either remixes or the more commercially oriented selections from his catalog. I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting to hear “Call on Me” as he will most certainly not play that as it isn’t representative of the style of music he makes anymore.
