Preview: Behrouz Returns to Cielo NYC for a Birthday Celebration
San Francisco native and now Miami resident, Behrouz has brought his eclectic sounds to dance-floors around the world since the early 2000’s. His ‘Pure Behrouz’ events transcend fans through a boundless journey that goes from deep house to techno, bringing a constant uproar of heart-pounding bpm and melodies. It seems everybody wants to be a dj these days but not many artists can claim they have reached that top echelon quite like Behrouz has. Having made himself a household name over the past two decades Behrouz is known for electrifying crowds of staggering numbers as well as being a master producer releasing his own artistry of tracks and EP compilations on the Nervous Records Label.
Having been from what was known as ‘greatest city for house music’, Behrouz held residency at some of San Francisco’s hottest underground nightclubs for 8+ years saturating the venues wall to wall with party-goers ready to dance in belief of the motto “it’s all about the music…..”. He held residency at the world famous Pacha Ibiza and was respected for his powerhouse performances at Circo Loco DC10. It wasn’t before long that Behrouz was discovered by the ever so incredible Deep Dish and was soon asked to join their labels ‘Yoshitoshi and Shinichi’. Under the Deep Dish wing Behrouz was selling out nightclub venues weekly while creating some of house music’s most iconic productions. He was nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ at the 2004 IDMA’s as well as at the DJ Awards in Ibiza and was known for being the Best Resident DJ at San Francisco’s Ruby Skye Nightclub. The Behrouz remix of Narcotic Thrusts “Safe from Harm” was #1 on the Billboard Dance charts immediately after its release and Behrouz featuring The FPI Projects “Rich in Paradise” was crowned a smash hit by dance music legend Pete Tong, being chosen as the Essential NEW Tune of 2008. Behrouz’s single “What We Do in Life” has been labeled a ‘classic’ having been released on the Deep Dish Yoshisque Classic CD compilation. Behrouz is referred to as “The DJ’s DJ” and with good reason. Major artists such as Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia and Sasha never hesitate to use Behrouz productions on their CD’s and in their sets.
From Dance Valley and Cream Festival to Amnesia Italy and Twilo NYC, Behrouz has certainly raised the bar for house / tech dj’s having his name spread and respected globally. Behrouz is no newbie to the decks of Cielo NYC; he is admired as part of the New York City family and graces us with his sounds several times a year. I expect nothing but vibrant, bold euphony’s that will have the floors shaking this Thursday. Behrouz has recently caused a crowd pandemonium using Empire of The Sun’s “We Are The People (Crazy P Remix)” and Lee Burridge and Matthew Dekay’s “Out of Order”. “Blackwater (Behrouz Sunset Mix)” featuring Rosie is always a great addition too. I expect the crowd to be Behrouz regulars ready to dance until Cielo kicks us out. We all look forward to seeing what he has in store for our ears this week!
