Giuseppe Ottaviani Leaves Philadelphia Speechless at Whisper Club on 6/6/13
Giuseppe Ottaviani made a stop in Philly last Friday for an intimate performance at Whisper Club. With around 100 people present for the Italian superstar performer, the few members of the trance family knew they were in for a treat. After all, how often can you say that you’ve gotten a (semi) private set from Giuseppe Ottaviani?
Starting the night out right was local talent DJ Aramis. DJ Aramis has shared the stage with the likes of John O’Callaghan, Ben Gold and Maor Levi amongst other heavy hitter talent. DJ Aramis delivered a stellar set, playing today’s trance hits as well as a few tracks that surprised me. Dropping a variety of tracks including Cosmic Gate’s “Storm Chaser”, Bryan Kearney and John O’Callaghan’s massive track “Rawdiculous” in the Bryn Kearney’s enhanced edit and the Dave Correa mash-up “The Girl You Freaked” from Sia & Indecent Noise vs Jase Thirlwall. The set that DJ Aramis created was the perfect warm-up for the man we were all waiting for, Giuseppe Ottaviani.
Giuseppe Ottaviani was playing a very special live set for us that night. His DJ set up included keyboards that allowed him to play the piano during his set. Because there was not a huge showing for this show in particular, it was very easy to get up close and personal with the man himself that made the set so much more special. Opening up by playing “Lost For Words” live, that was the first tear to be shed during the night. Giuseppe recently released his second artist album, Magenta, and he showcased some of the tracks for us that night. My favorite track from the album besides “Magenta” itself, is “Gave Me” featuring the gorgeous vocals of Seri. When that track was dropped, it was like everyone in the entire room held their breath at the same time. Dropping his collaboration with Solarstone, “Falcons”, “Love Will Bring It All Around” featuring the vocals of Eric Lumiere, as well as his remix of Paul Van Dyk’s “I Don’t Deserve You” feat. Plumb, the performance was emotional and just all around perfect.
