Festival Preview: Tomorrowland 2012 + Live Streaming
After the infamous 2011 recap video that went viral last fall, millions of people, from curious viewers to passionate EDM fans raved in awe of what rightfully won the 2011 best music festival in the world award at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami: Tomorrowland. This video too, is what sparked my interest in traveling to the enchanting Tomorrowland. After having been to most of the huge festivals in the United States: Coachella, Ultra, Electric Zoo and EDC Vegas, I wanted to step it up and experience a dance music festival across the world. Tomorrowland became the ultimate destination.
Comprised of sixteen stages over three days with over 400 artists and 180,000 visitors, Tomorrowland is going to be an experience like no other. This festival is not only focused on the music, but the ultimate festival experience created by sensation overload. Tomorrowland held in Boom, Belgium (July 27-July 29) is located in a park with lush natural beauty. The outlandish whimsical production contrasts the nature around it, bringing even more attention to how festivals are not just only for listening pleasure. Michelin star chefs prepare food for festival-goers, giant gingerbread house included. Those who are camping have their own bakery. The physical production around the stages transforms the festival to what seems like the background for an illuminated fairytale. Tomorrowland is about curating stimulation for all 5 senses in the most fantastical way possible.
As for the music, it is impossible for someone to see every artist they could possible want. Each stage is stacked with talent at all hours of the day. The best part is that there are hundreds of names I don’t even recognize. It will be exciting to explore new Djs and their sounds within Tomorrowland’s magical background. Along with the unrecognizable names, there are the big names in all sub-genres of EDM: David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Carl Cox, Maya Jane Coles. Belgium superstars Like Mike and Dimitri Vegas. U.S. sensations Skrillex and Porter Robinson.
Above and Beyond are hosting their famous Group Therapy tent where people will hear some of the most beautiful trance music produced to this day. Laidback Luke is hosting his Super You and Me Party where a costume is more than welcome. Dim Mak records presents world class Djs all day Friday. Tomorrowland offers a plethora of electronic music acts for all sides of the spectrum, truly creating a once and a lifetime experience.
As the Tomorrowland tag line goes: “Yesterday is history, today is a gift, tomorrow is a mystery.”
This is one mystery I can’t wait to solve. And luckily for everyone back at home you too can discover the mysteries of Tomorrowland. The festival will be streamed live on YouTube (youtube.com/tomorrowland)! Check out the Like Mike and Dimitri Vegas Tomorrowland 2012 anthem which makes note of this:
