EDMinsider Interview with French DJ/Producer Sami Wentz

It gives us great pleasure to introduce Sami Wentz, also known as SAIMONT, to EDM Insider and the rest of the EDM music community. Thanks to a good friend Michael Palladino and everyone a part of Insignia Bookings, EDMinsider contributing writer Jennifer had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Sami at Sullivan Room in New York City where he had played for his first time in America last week. Lucky for us, he had nothing but nice things to say about the crowd dancing before him. Hopefully New Yorkers have showed him enough love to get him back from France as soon as possible, but until then Jennifer had a chance to chat with the European DJ/Producer during his journey to the States for EDMinsider.com!

EDMinsider 1. How do you feel about playing in New York for the first time?
Wentz: Very well, really very well, it’s my first time but I think I won’t go back to France. Can I just stay here?

EDMinsider 2. How does it feel playing your music in New York City where house music has a very intimidating reputation?
Wentz: Very good, I was very happy to play here in the “BIG APPLE.”

EDMinsider 3. What is it that draws you to house music?
Wentz: Oh well, I always loved this music and I try to make my music the best it can be and I wanted to bring the best I had here. I was told I should play more tech house, more tech house but the people love the deep house music. And I love it.

EDMinsider 4. How do you feel about the genre of tech house?
Wentz: I like tech house and I am trying to produce it with my second artist name, SAIMONT and I am starting a new project that everyone can look forward to.

EDMinsider 5. After performing in America, is there anything you want to work on or change the next time you are here?
Wentz: I wouldn’t change anything but I would add. I would like to bring more deep house styles and something groovier. I like the energetic sounds, with a little melody and some vocals. That’s what I like and it’s what I plan to bring to America.

EDMinsider 6. Was there ever a time you thought about changing the style of your music? Knowing that there are so many different genres?
Wentz: No, not a thing.

EDMinsider 7: What is the difference, music wise, between New York and France?
Wentz: They are listening to David Guetta, Avicii and Dubstep. There isn’t too many tech house or deep house parties.

EDMinsider 8. So, do you like New Yorkers?
Wentz: Can I live at your house? I will stay here in America. No really I love this city.
