EDM Insider Top Tracks of 2011: The Year In Review

We wanted to fill you in on our favorite tracks of the year and the list kept on growing. When it first began it was supposed to be the EDM Insider Top 50, which quickly turned Top 100 and eventually made its way to the top 250 of the best and most influential electronic dance music tracks of 2011. With the genre barriers continuing to diminish, the EDM Insider top tracks of 2011 have been arranged in a reviewable manor. Completely disregarding influences from other genres including hip-hop (even if it may only be vocals), rock, rap and rock, the list we complied has been scrutinized several times by ourselves alone in hopes of disregarding any bias whatsoever. After a monumental year for dance music, EDM Insider has reviewed many tracks from the year and have taken into account multiple factors before selecting a track to the Top of 2011. Whether your favorite track on the list is classified as trance, electro, progressive, dubstep or house, we here at EDM Insider make way for it all. This being one of the many reasons why we find our list of the top tracks for 2011 to so substantial. Here’s to honoring those who’ve help make a difference towards Electronic Dance Music whether they knew so or not. Here’s to those helping make history right before their very eyes. Both overwhelming yet sought-after, is this what Electronic Dance Music fans have been striving for all these years – Recognition?

While the Electronic Dance Music debate stands still for time time being, let us reflect on a powerful, expressive, and dynamic year of essentially genre-shifting tunes which will be remembered most for captivating and summoning it’s listeners to a freshly inventive culmination of genres, disregarding any prior limits or labels which may have prevented such instances from taking place at one time or another. Has Electronic Dance Music gone mainstream or has mainstream gone Electronic Dance Music? While there are still several styles and barriers yet to be broken, 2011 proved it possible to combine the likes multiple styles of music directing them all towards a universal destination, Electronic Dance. Renowned hip-hop vocalists such as Usher, Nicki Minaj, Diddy and Lil Jon, rock artists such as Coldplay, Pendulum and The Killers credible pop-stars Lady Gaga, Adele, Rihanna as well as familiar oldies Depeche Mode, Cassius and Moby also make an appearance on this years list, only proving that they’ve secured themselves as staples amongst the Electronic Dance Music community.
