David Guetta & Nicky Romero – Oval (Original Mix)
David Guetta and Nicky Romero come together for their third collaboration with Oval, an adrenaline fueled flashback. Taking a break from their more mainstream collaborative style, Wild One Two (feat. Sia), they have created a worthy follow-up to Metropolis. The track whips by at a ridiculous pace featuring crazy digitally infused electro dance beats. If your head isn’t bobbing by the end of this track, there is most definitely a clinical issue at hand. As Oval comes to a close, you are left with an old meets new vibe: a nitrous injected Daft Punk. Although it does emanate a strong old school Daft Punk flavor, it can only be legitimately compared to one of the duo’s most recent tracks, Derezzed from the Tron Legacy soundtrack. Nonetheless the track follows more of a traditional trajectory in terms of its rise and fall.
Having first appeared in Nicky Romero’s Essential Mix on Pete Tong’s famed radio program back in May as an ID, Oval will eventually be released on David Guetta’s label Jack Back Records. Coming of the back of Guetta’s last release, She Wolf featuring Sia, Oval is a welcome reprieve and a welcome balance.
