With a strong 25 years of EDM experience under his belt, Brooklyn native David Morales is a well known and acknowledged DJ/Producer that has accomplished a great deal in his career, all well deserved. This Thursday he returns to his New York City roots to make the walls of Cielo NYC shake once more for Dance.Here.Now. Thursday’s. David Morales is a three time Grammy nominated artist having provided loyal fans with a large list of #1 Chart topping tracks, all which began with his classic 1998 release “Needin’ U”. David was co-owner of the world renowned Stereo Club in Montreal, is a resident DJ at Pacha Ibiza, and has been hand selected to remix tracks for artists such as Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Eric Clapton, and Michael & Janet Jackson, just to name a few. The David Morales original track “Here I Am” was featured in the 2006 hit film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and “Feels Good” was featured in Adam Sandler’s film ‘Don’t Mess with the Zohan’. He has been climbing the music charts for 25 years with no sign of stopping anytime soon, being a New York Nightlife icon and a great paragon to new and upcoming DJ’s and producers. He has been touring globally since the late 90’s and this Thursday he returns to New York City to eardrums tremble with some quality house music.
Few figures in contemporary music have influenced their respective fields the way Frankie Knuckles has revolutionized electronic dance music. Frankie Knuckles is considered one of the most renowned global DJ’s with 20+ years in his career he can still sell out shows, overcrowding dancefloors with his unique style of deep and progressive house. Frankie Knuckles is an admired Producer and Re-Mixer that has shared his talents with some of R&B and Pop music’s elite such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Sounds of Blackness, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, and Toni Braxton. Frankie’s production and mixing career was officially recognized by the music industry in 1997 when he received the first ever Grammy for ‘Remixer of The Year’ and also became Governor and Trustee for the NYC Chapter of The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. Frankie Knuckles list of accomplishments as an artist and as a person runs a mile long as he constantly works to help the music industry and education of music constantly grow. He has given us legendary tracks like 1986’s “Your Love”, 1990 collaboration track with Satoshie Tomie “And I Loved You/Tears”, “The Whistle Song”, and “Move Your Body”. Frankie Knuckles has certainly transitioned and redeveloped his sound style through the years so I know everyone must be looking forward to hearing his tweaky, electrifying set this Thursday June 14th, 2012, sure to send us on a musical journey through the depths of House.
Hector Romero is another long term veteran and key staple in the dance music industry. He has been at work since age 13 but it wasn’t before long that he conquered the New York City Nightlife scene having DJ’ed at classic venues such as Palladium, Limelight, Save the Robots, and Roxy, where he came to know David Morales and Frankie Knuckles. Hector Romero and the exceptional Satoshi Tomiie are the leaders behind SAW RECORDINGS carrying artists such as Audiofly, Chab, and Bush II Bush, among others. Hector Romero is a highly respected artist known for mixing his old-school style with modern day techniques which can be heard on his monthly podcast on Def Mix Radio which featured on iTunes and Def Mix.com. Each show delivers some of the finest quality house music from around the world and also features “guest Def Mixers” including David Morales and Frankie Knuckles. We are lucky to see this incredible house music trio hit the decks at Cielo NYC this Thursday June 14th, 2012.
Detroit Techno native Quentin Harris will be joining the mix as well this Thursday at Cielo NYC. With strong influences from DJ Ken Collier, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Michael J. Powell, Junior Vasquez, and The Electrifyin’ Mojo, Quentin Harris has earned his stripes as a star DJ/Producer in the EDM industry over the past decade. Quentin taught himself how to play piano at a young age but soon his interests were seeking something more undefined. Today as an artist, Quentin Harris is known to create “music that is expansive enough to cross barriers, ignore micro-idioms and appeal to many.” Quentin Harris is one of very few DJ’s that can fit that accord and be acclaimed for it. His name hit the spotlight when he gave us the dynamic Donnie Remix to “Cloud 9” and recognition for Quentin Harris kept growing as he released powerhouse tracks like ‘We Are Young”, “Traveling”, ”Can’t Stop”, and remixes to Justin Timberlake’s “My Love” and Mariah Carey’s “Don’t Forget About Us”. This Thursday at Cielo NYC is expected to be a conundrum of aggressive and enterprising house music.all.night.long. Did I mentioned that there will be LIVE performances by Polina, Tamra Keenan, Jonathan Mendelsohn, and Janice Robinson. Doors open at 10 p.m. and tickets are strongly recommended! You do not want to miss this Thursday at Cielo NYC!
