Chicago’s Wavefront Music Festival Makes Waves in 2013
Imagine the sun beating down, the beach under your feet, the water lapping to one side of you and a skyline as magnificent as they get. Imagine also wind blowing in your face right off the water pushing the sweat off your moving body. Oh and don’t forget the beautiful sounds of electronic music swarming all around you. It sounds perfect to me. Now if only this dream could become a reality. Oh wait it can!
This summer, Chicago, is bringing Wavefront Music Festival back to Montrose Beach for the second year in a row. This year the magic happens on July 5th, 6th and 7th. The lineup is a euphoric mix of the more “underground” sub-genres of electronic music: deep-house, tech-house and trance.
These festival sets are certainly going to differ from the more expected big room, waiting for the beat to drop, mainstream festival sets we have been hearing in recent years. The DJs are going to bring their deepest Chicago style intelligent-house music to the beachfront. You can look forward to the groovy beats of tech-house, the pensive sets of deep-house and trance infused sets. The minimalistic focus of the festival is a welcomed divergence from the focus of fast paced synth filled pop tracks that seem to be taking over the radio, podcasts, and Main Stages of today’s festivals.
There is something special about having the lesser known (to the mainstream) deep-house, tech-house and trance DJs on every stage at a festival, but especially the Main Stage at every hour! The beachfront backdrop of course is going to be filled with lights and lasers, but the minimal production makes this festival even more about the music, which is what festivals should be about.
The spectacular line up ranges from Cosmic Gate to Seth Troxler to Nicolas Jarr, to Scuba to Mark Farina. In addition, there have never seen so many female DJs and producers on one festival line up. Laura Jones a 2012 rising star, Magda a staple in Ibiza and festivals as well as Maya Jane Coles a purely stellar musician are all taking over Wavefront.
Don’t forget to check out the Wavefront website for the full line up and ticket information. There are one-day general admission, three-day general admission, and three-day VIP passes still available. Ticket Link
