Aly & Fila, John O’Callaghan & Jaytech Electric Zoo Day 3 After Party
As Skrillex’s set wrapped up on Sunday night, the crowds began to rush towards the exits, and the cleanup of Electric Zoo 2012 began. I had a hard time fathoming making it all the way to Times Square to get to the Best Buy Theater for the Aly & Fila vs. John O’Callaghan after party. Thankfully, my inner trance fan took over my brain and pushed me towards the venue. I had heard amazing things about both Best Buy Theater and the DJs spinning for the night, but I severely underestimated what an amazing night this after party would become.
Best Buy Theater was everything a venue should be for this after party. Stunning lighting, excellent facilities, a refreshingly cool air-conditioned dance floor (not to mention some of New York’s biggest trance fans). As Aly & Fila and John O’Callaghan carried us until the wee hours of the morning, we were blessed with pure uptempo, uplifting trance. The set was an ethereal roller coaster of emotion. Every time positive emotions were given, they were taken away and vice-versa. The Giuseppe Ottaviani remix of Paul van Dyk’s ”I Don’t Deserve You” tore apart the crowd’s emotions while tracks like Aly & Fila’s Uplifting Mix of Solarstone’s ”Fireisland” built up the positive vibes to a tangible level. As Aly & Fila’s “Perfect Love” soared over the venue’s powerful yet crisp sound system, finding a dry eye would have proven to be a difficult task. The crowd was friendly, the venue was not over packed and being able to have such intimate interactions with the three DJs of the night put the cherry on top of my Electric Zoo weekend. Although I was not able to make it to the venue in time for Jaytech or Jochen Miller’s sets, I only heard glowing things about their sets from those who left the festival early.
Between the Twitterverse and those I talked to from the event, I think one thing can be determined: this was one event you should not have missed. Aly & Fila vs John O’Callaghan easily provided one of the best sets of Electric Zoo weekend and one of the best sets I have ever heard, ever.
