Afrojack Live at Ultra Music Festival Day 1 (Full Set & Review)

The first day of Ultra Music Festival 2012 was JACKED with a full hour set at the main stage with Afrojack. Accompanied by the always-adoring Paris Hilton, and Lil’Jon on the mic to MC, Nick van de Wall chugged his usual Grey Goose magnum bottle of vodka while giving UMF attendees, and the world, a high energy Afrojack set. Although he originally had promised early on in the set that he would be playing not 1, not 5, but 10 brand new tracks; we can’t seem to find more than a small few of those brand new “ID” tracks in the set. Not that we don’t love every second of it, it’s just not what we were originally promised. We’ll throw Afrojack a bone on this one and blame it on the alcohol, like the T Pain song once said. (Remember when that was popular?!)

Either way, Afrojack’s set was a sight to see for any EDM fan who can appreciate the magnititude of the crowd that hung on to every chord or nob Afrojack twisted. We heard his brand new Wall Recordings track, Fatility, fully equipped with a fat bass line – perfect for the atmosphere. Encorporated into the 60 minute mix, along with newer tunes, were Afro-anthems including No Beef (with Steve Aoki & Miss Palmer) as well as Take Over Control (with Eva Simons) which were sung along to by UMF attendees and around the world.

The hard hitting set (and even harder amp ups from Lil Jon to the crowd) was topped off by the sounds of Shermanology live on stage with Afrojack for the grand finale. The live performance encompassed a live rendition of David Guetta & Usher’s Without You into their powerful chart topping single Can’t Stop Me Now which even gave fans chills from home watching along on UMFTV.
